Waiters

Last minute check on gear. If anyone has not gotten their waiters let me know before Thursday. I'm bringing a back up reel, but not the boots/waiters unless someone needs them. And contrary to what John V. says, they are free of charge.

Itinerary change

getting jumpy. Just found out last night that the road from canyon village to tower is closing on sept 22. the day we get there. this means that tower creek campground is closed for the winter on sat. No big gig. We will go directly to slough creek base camp and stay there. It is only 2 miles away. It is first come first serve so Jake, Brown, Carlos, and myself ( I will call it "the go team") will get there as early on sat. as we can and reserve at least two sites. If for some reason there is a problem there is another campground not to far from there called pebble creek. that will be the back up. Once we get our sites sat morning we will then go to tower-roosevet to the ranger station, get our back county premit, take any classes we need, get our fishing licenses, and call johnny V and tell him where we will be.
We will not be able to fish tower creek which sucks but we will still be able to fish the yellowstone and maybe do some recon on the slough before we go backcountry.
The road closure adds about 25 more mins to the drive for both the go team and the slow team but it does force our hand in that we will be traveling right past Mammoth hot springs. So bring your suits so we can take a dip in the only place in the park where you can bathe it the hot springs.

Itenerary

  1. Friday Sept. 21- John, Carlos will meet jake and Brownie in Idaho Falls. Get a hotel and spend the night. Dano will fly to Denver. He and Johnny V will find a fishing hole some where in Wyoming.
  2. Saturday Sept. 22- Carlos, Jake, Brownie, and John will hit up a store for supplies and then make our way to Tower-Roosevelt campground. We will try to fish Tower creek that evening.
  3. Sunday Sept. 23- Carlos, Jake, Brownie, and John will get up and fish the Yellowstone river. Johnny V and Dano will make there way to Cody Wyoming and pick Joe Occi up at noon. After that they will make there way to Tower-Roosevelt camp. This is important. Everyone needs to stop at a ranger station to get a fishing license and take a quick back-county class from a ranger. This needs to be done before Monday.
  4. Monday Sept. 24- Everyone breaks camp and hikes into Slough creek 2nd meadow campground. We stay here until Wend or Thursday depending on the fishing.
  5. Thursday Sept. 27- Everyone breaks camp and makes there way to Madison campground. We will have the opportunity to fish Madison river, gibbon river, firehole river. Johnny V has also put the idea out there to do some lake fishing.
  6. Saturday Sept. 29- Carlos, Occi, Jake, Brownie and John make our way to Idaho falls. Johnny V and Dano make there way to Denver.
  7. Sunday Sept. 30- Everyone goes home.

Spare Parts

I bought a few new fishing items this off season and have a few spare parts I'm willing to part with.

Pictured above is a set of wadders and boots size 9.5
These originally belonged to Dano, but unless he wanted them back, they can be yours. They have seen better days and will leak on you after a full day in the river, but you can't beat the price.

This is a very inexpensive reel, that I think came from Jake's old set up. It still has some line backer but you'll need to supply your own line. Included with the reel is the dazzling red case pictured to the right, which doubles as a beer cooze.

I'm planning on bringing these items with me, so if you're interested in using, owning or are the rightful owner and want them back, let me know. I also have a back up tent that someone can borrow. It's a one man hike tent which will be perfect for the hike into Slough Creek.

places to get stuff for the trip

What up bitches?
here is a fly box I think kicks ass and it is cheap. It is double sided and waterproof and clear. It will hold the flys that we need and it is cheap.
